JACKSON ESKAY INVITED TO NPSL COMBINE January 8-10, 2016 in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida at Lockhart Stadium hosted by the Ft. Lauderdale Strikers of the NASL.
Jackson Eskay is a Golden Goal Scoring Student from the 2013 and 2015 courses hosted by FC Frederick, in Maryland. We wish him luck at the combine. Jackson Eskay's Two Goals Lifts Men's Soccer to 3-0 Victory at Drexel
"We are very pleased with tonight's performance and happy to get a result," said head coach Chris Norris. "Scoring early gave us confidence and we were able to get a shutout, which was important for our group."
W&M had a pair of shots on goal in the match's first five minutes. Jackson Eskay cleared some space and fired a third minute shot that was saved by Drexel goalkeeper Tyler Afflerbach. Moments later, freshman Ryder Bell put a shot on target that was also handled by Afflerbach.
In the eighth minute, the Tribe jumped on the board with match's first goal. Berry dribbled the ball down the left side of the field and cut all the way across the box, before firing a low shot into the left side of the goal. His third tally of the season gave W&M a 1-0 advantage.
The Tribe continued to mount its attack looking for a second goal, and just missed a chance 21st minute. Bell drove the left side of the box, and fired a shot that Afflerbach made a diving save on.
W&M doubled its lead in the 36th minute on Jackson Eskay's fifth goal of the season. Junior Reilly Maw sent a cross from right to left that found the senior. Jackson Eskay uncorked his shot from just outside of the box into the right corner of the net.
The Green and Gold limited to Drexel to just five first half shots, only one of which was on frame. Jameson Detweiler fired a shot in the final minute of the first half that was saved by redshirt junior Mac Phillips.
Jackson Eskay scored his second goal of the day 58th minute. The senior dribbled into the box launched his shot just under the crossbar for the goal. His sixth goal of the season gave W&M a 3-0 lead.
The Tribe just missed its fourth goal with a pair of shots moments apart. Redshirt freshman Christian Jones had the first shot, before Jackson Eskayfired a minute later. Afflerbach saved both shots.
W&M finished the match with a 21-11 advantage in shots, which also included a 13-3 difference in shots on-goal. Jackson Eskay led the way for the Tribe with six shots, while Bell finished with four.
Phillips recorded three saves in goal for the Tribe as he recorded his second shutout of the season for W&M. It was his 11th career shutout for W&M.
